The uncertain fate of New Zealand’s largest wine companies, Montana and Corbans, has been partially solved with news that Lion Nathan is buying 19.9% of Montana. Rumours have abounded the last few weeks, since Southcorp and Fosters Brewing have both recently demonstrated interest in this company. A rumour sourced from London, which a senior Mildara Blass manager has since denied, also suggested that Fosters might be about to purchase Corbans, with which it has been in discussions for around a year.
