Warrenmang Grand Pyrenees Cabernet Blend 2001

Robust and generous, if rather blocky red with an earthy, menthol-like bouquet of spicy, slightly cooked plum and redcurrant-like fruit and vanilla oak. Assertive and firm, it opens up to reveal more berry sweetness and harmony, with lingering plum and currant-like fruit.

Winery

Warrenmang
Warrenmang is a mature vineyard at Moonambel, in VictoriaŐs picturesque Pyrenees region. Its rustic, powerfully ripened reds are typically firm and intense, with regional characteristics of mint and menthol. Experience suggests that at around five years of age, the wines tend to smooth out and settle down. One wine that needs no smoothing out whatsoever is the rather incredible, luscious and silky-smooth The Miracle blend of shiraz and cabernet varieties from 2008 (96/100, drink 2028-2038), which despite its 15% alcohol is simply remarkable for the illuminated qualities of its fruit and its rare degree of elegance.
