Richard Hamilton
Richard Hamilton is a long-established McLaren Vale winery that makes a number of individual vineyard wines from the region. The oldest, the Centurion, typically produces a deeply fragrant, fine-grained and savoury shiraz which has stepped up a notch from the excellent 2010 vintage. Located at the southern end of the region, this site has a grey loam soil over old river clay and limestone, and certainly appears to handle the climatic challenges of recent vintages. Paul Gordon and his team performed very well with fruit from the challenging 2011 season but appear to have hit new levels of consistency and quality in 2012 and 2013.
