A meaty, rather savoury pinot whose slightly candied flavours of raspberries, strawberries, plums and cherries are knit with fresh vanilla oak and backed by a suggestion of marzipan. ItÕs presently rather raw, a little hollow and lacking finesse, and while itÕs underpinned by smooth, polished tannins, it could use more weight and structure.

Giant Steps
Phil Sexton, an experienced operator in the wine, brewing and hospitality industries, has set up camp in a very major way at Healesville in the Yarra Valley, with the spectacular Innocent Bystander winery and hospitality centre, home to the Giants Creek range. Sourcing from several different vineyards whose wines are vinified and sold separately, the brand continues to fashion chardonnay and pinot noir of ever-increasing style and elegance. The steady improvement of the Sexton Vineyard and Tarraford Chardonnays over recent years is reflected by their elevated ratings.
