Bindi Kaye Pinot Noir 2011
Very reserved, almost ethereal, evolving some intriguing complexity. Its autumnal bouquet of figs, cherries, citrus oil and red cherries reveals nuances of game meats and dried herbs, with suggestions of mint and menthol. Gentle and supple, but with a surprisingly viscous presence of subtle fruit and dusty vanilla oak, its extends over fine, pliant tannins towards a lingering, savoury if marginally herbal finish. Charmingly complex and delicate.

Bindi
It hasn't taken long for Bindi to become a signature vineyard. Located on a series of wonderfully sunny cool- climate sites whose varying, gentle but fortuitously directed slopes of grey loam soils have a healthy content of quartz, Bindi can produce pinot and chardonnay of great perfume, purity and texture. Michael Dhillon recently made some interesting name and label changes to his wines, recognising important forebears and contributors to the Bindi name, none of which are more significant than Kostas Rind, Bindi's inspiration and my childhood neighbour. The 2014 wines are exemplary -Ę right on cue.
