Dark, ripe and sinewy, this robust but rather closed red has a floral, sweetly fruited bouquet of blackberries and raspberries, cassis and dark chocolate, cedar and vanilla. Supported by firm, drying and slightly gritty tannins, it delivers a moderate length of rather baked fruit, with nuances of currants, prunes and raisons beneath its dark plum/berry flavours. It finishes with fresh acids. Give it plenty of air if opening young.
Deeply ripened black, red and blue fruits with fresh smoky mocha oak and a firmish, gravelly spine. Leathery, earthy and chocolatey scents with notes of musk, menthol and mineral precede a sumptuous palate of fullish to medium weight that finishes with freshness and length. Give it plenty of time to breathe.
A robust, long-term shiraz that steadily softens with aeration to reveal a charming core of faintly minty, meaty flavours of black and red fruits and a fine, firmish mineral spine. There’s a suggestion of eucalypt and some leathery development.
Classic, ripe and generous Clare Valley shiraz with a deep, musky and smoky bouquet of cassis, redcurrants, blood plums and chocolatey oak backed by notes of paprika, mint and eucalypt. It’s fullish in weight, with a plush core of fiery dark fruits, roasting tray juices and smoky mocha oak underpinned by a crunchy spine of slatey tannin. It finishes long and powerful, with notes of licorice and briar.
Deeply flavoured, with layers of fruit, oak and gravelly texture tightly knit and artfully balanced, this is a complete, polished and stylish expression of a richer South Australian shiraz. Scented with musky aromas of spice and cracked pepper, dark plums and cherries, blackberries and cedar/vanilla oak, it reveals notes of dark chocolates and minerals. Carrying a handsome coating of newish French oak with ease, it drives long and generous towards a savoury, faintly mineral and licorice-like finish.
