Well-known winemaker Robert Paul, who has for years been the Montrose stalwart in Mudgee and whose enthusiasm for the Italian varieties planted there by Carlo Corino has led to the renaissance of wines like the Montrose Sangiovese, has left Orlando Wyndham to become a senior consultant for the Melbourne-based wine industry consultancy, Wine Network Australia. Winenet’s three partners are Gary Baldwin, David Wollan and Artemis Georgiades and since they are a co-tenant of mine in the Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn, Paul is shortly to become my neighbour. I hope he doesn’t change his mind if he reads this first.
