Increased demand for its entry-level products of White Zinfandel, White Merlot and its Stone Cellars range has led to Beringer Blass Wine Estates increasing its California harvest intake by 4.8%, to a record California harvest intake equivalent to 148,234 tonnes. The company’s bulk wine purchases increased by 30%, while the tonnage from Beringer’s own vineyards increased by 9%. While overall quality looks encouraging, one hopes that Walt Klenz and his team decide against repatriating some of their White Zin and White Merlot to Australia.
