Winery

De Bortoli
Darren De Bortoli created the genre of late-harvest semillon in Australia with the first vintage of what he then labelled ‘Semillon Sauterne’ in 1982. Since then this luscious and concentrated wine has been renamed ‘Noble One’, and is the benchmark by which Australian dessert wines are judged. Typically, these wines look wonderfully luscious and intense in their youth, traverse a somewhat uninteresting adolescence and then emerge as complex, deeply coloured and delicious mature dessert styles. The 2013 continues the excellent recent tradition of greater intensity at lower alcoholic strengths. It's completely different to Sauternes – as you'd expect – but remains a dessert wine of world standing.
