Winery

Capel Vale
Capel Vale sources its best fruit from Margaret River, Mount Barker and Pemberton. I remain a great enthusiast of what I have long considered to be Capel Vale's leading wine Đ the Whispering Hill Riesling Đ a typically tight, lean and chalky wine that fills out slowly, but remains bracingly fresh and deeply aromatic. It hits another high point with the 2013 vintage. The company's reds are strongly influenced by what appears to be an unusual choice of oak that across the range contributes awkward levels of mocha, chocolate and pine needle-like influences to the wines. I'm of the opinion that if this issue were to be addressed, the reds would improve significantly.
