OnWine Quiz #12

Perhaps I’m getting softer by the month, but there wasn’t a shocking enough label submitted to declare a winner for the last quiz. But each of you who sent an entry can expect a reasonable drop in return, even if it’s rather tackily presented. With the interest now being paid to new-wave grape varieties, it’s time to test your knowledge of them. Which of these grapes is the odd one out: (a) arneis, (b) pinot gris, (c) pinotage and (d) viognier? Your chances of winning an exemplary bottle of wine made from one of these varieties will increase dramatically if you can also point out why it’s different to the others, where it’s from and how it might have been bred. Post your answer to Reply paid 243, OnWine Quiz #12, Jeremy Oliver OnWine, 565 Burwood Rd, Hawthorn, Victoria, 3122, Australia. The deadline for entries is July 23.
