Australian wines are wowing the international judges like there’s no tomorrow. Hardly an international show goes by without glad tidings of another laurel-wrapped bottle of vin d’Australie. It’s no overnight phenomenon. Rosemount Estate won a Double Gold at the Bristol Wine Show with its Show Chardonnay 1980. An Australian wine won the Gold Medal and Caterer and Hotelkeeper Trophy for the best Riesling at London’s 18th International Wine and Spirit Competition in 1987. Which wine was it?
