[question] Question submitted by Steve Thomas, Australia. I was wondering why you stopped keeping notes and ratings on Noon winery. I noticed you have notes on the 2000 Eclipse but that’s it. [/question] [answer] Noon has never sent me wines on the basis that I would publish notes and scores on them in Australia. The only time I received their wines was the first year in which I was covering Australian wine for Steve Tanzer in New York. At the time, I thought them impressive, but overcooked and over-extracted. I marked them relatively well (all silver medal status), but clearly not sufficiently high for the winery’s proprietors, who have chosen since (despite a couple of approaches from my office) not to send me wine. I try to take a consistent approach across the wine industry and do not buy many samples, although in several instances by buying them is the only way I taste some wines. I do not consider Noon’s to be sufficiently important for my ‘must taste’ list. [/answer]
