With the release of plans for a new 4,000 tonne winery, vineyards and wine/tourism facilities, BRL Hardy has become the first of the large wine makers to formalise an association with the Canberra wine region. The company already sources around 20% of its premium Eileen Hardy Chardonnay from the Canberra district and has earmarked between $15-20 million for the new venture, which has the full support of the ACT Government and local wineries. The development will be located adjacent to the Canberra Racecourse and a 3 hectare vineyard, largely planted for show in this frosty spot, will be established within the course itself.
