NuKorc, a synthetic closure whose makers claim enables wine ‘to be opened as it has been for hundreds of years with a sense of ceremony and flair’, recently had a boost with the opening of a A$4.3m manufacturing plant at Pooraka, South Australia, with the capacity to produce five hundred million closures annually. NuKorc, which commenced operations in 1996, has seen sales grow by 350% over the past year. 20% of the company’s production is exported.
