One of the most influential US wine trade publications, Rich Cartiere’s Wine Market Report, has predicted that within two years Australia will have replaced France as the second-largest source of imported wine into the US. This news follows Australia’s anticipated rise as the UK’s leading wine importer by value by the end of 2001, by which time AC Nielsen expects Australian wine to account for 22% by value of the UK market, ahead of 21% by value of French wine.
