After a brief delay, plans are back on track for the National Wine Centre in Adelaide to be ready for completion by the end of 2000. It hasn’t received a huge amount of press, but the principal purpose of the centre is to provide a focal point for those business partners of Australian wine to meet all the industry’s key players under a single roof. It will also double as a permanent display highlighting the merits of the various Australian wine regions, and a focal point for wine education and communications. Located on the site of Adelaide’s Botanic Garden, it represents an investment of $20 million from the South Australian Government, $12 million from the Federal Government and around $5 million from the industry itself.
