Mildara Blass has bought 51% of Sobemab, one of France’s largest contract bottling wine businesses, located in the Languedoc-Roussillon, the world’s largest wine-producing region. It cost the company, which retains the option to buy the remaining 49% over the next four years, AUD $19.8 million. Mildara Blass managing director Terry Davis draws a link between this purchase and the expansion of its European interests, especially in the German wine club and direct marketer, Pallhuber GmbH.
