MG Garage, 490 Crown St, Surry Hills, NSW, 02 9383 9383 Another Sydney restaurant which is enjoying an extended time in the sun, MG Garage also has a varied and well considered wine list which is brief and clear enough to be thoroughly researched without fraying the nerves or stretching the thirst of anyone dining with you. As you’d expect from an establishment in which some of us still go to be seen, it offers a fine selection of big-note labels like Mount Mary and Leeuwin Estate, but there is also another tier of interesting domaine labels like Huia from Marlborough, whose gewurztraminer I strongly commend, the Heathcote Winery, Gembrook Hill and Crawford River. Given that my views on most Australian wines are easily discovered in the OnWine Australian Wine Annual, it is fairly self-evident that I would have absolutely no trouble finding something I’d enjoy drinking!
