Recent investigations published by wine journalist Max Allen throw considerable doubt over the issue of whether a wine entered by McGuigan Wines in recent wine tasting events and shows is in fact the same wine as the rather ordinary beverage sold on the market bearing the same name. Word is out that audits might be under way. If the inferences presented by Allen are indeed correct, it begs the question of whether or nor this might have happened before. Furthermore, if this is the case, the former shareholders of Simeon Wines might perhaps begin asking serious questions about their new bed partner, and what impact such a development might have on their share values in their merged company.
