At the same event Rosemount Estate’s Philip Shaw was named Winemaker of the Year, for the second time. The company was also named Best Australian Producer and its 1998 Traditional was named Best Blended Red Wine. The company collected six of the twenty-one gold medals given to Australian wines. The 1998 Traditional also won a Grand Gold Medal at the 2000 VinItaly, where the 1996 Balmoral Syrah won a Gold Medal. The 1997 Traditional was also awarded a Gold Medal at the Challenge International Du Vin 2000. Rosemount’s 1997 Roxburgh Chardonnay was also awarded the Prix d’Excellence from the Challenge International Du Vin, Bordeaux. In 1999 Rosemount’s 1997 Orange Vineyard Chardonnay was given the same award.
