Bright, musky aromas of lemon blossom, pear and green apple skin with a whiff of spice precede a generous, creamy and finely textural palate whose pleasing length of fruit drives long and shapely down a drying, faintly mineral backbone towards a lingering finish wrapped in fresh lemony acids. Very generous, pure and pristine.

A pioneer both in the King Valley and as an innovator with a range of Italian wine varieties, the Pizzini family has worked hard to develop authentic expressions of these varieties in Australia. able to source from a range of King Valley terroirs, the last few years have seen a significant quality step taken across Pizzini's wide collection of wines, as vines mature and techniques become more refined. True to the family's Italian culinary heritage, the wines are typically elegant, structured and more savoury food styles that demand to be enjoyed around the dining table. I particularly enjoy the family's red blends between Italian and French red varieties, especially the long-living Il Barone. The cellar door presents a first-rate visitor experience and the wines now show the style and confidence that only experience can deliver.
