New Zealand’s 2002 vintage of 118,700 tonnes is a national record, up by a staggering 67% on 2001 and 48% on the previous record year of 2000. A warm, dry autumn should provide good quality in most major regions. Kiwi wine exports, which have the highest value per litre ratio of any significant wine producer, are set to rise from present levels of 22 million litres, with a value of NZ$240 million.
