They actually did it. By unanimous agreement, the members of the so-called ‘Koppamurra Grapegrowers Association’ actually agreed to name their region as ‘Wrattonbully’. I still wake up in the mornings thinking this is some sort of a joke, but sadly, it isn’t. I can’t get it out of my head that somebody said it sounded like the name of an English pub and I still can’t take it any more seriously than that. That’s a shame, really, since I expect some darned good wines to come from Wrattonbully, or whatever it’s called. Lord knows what they’re going to make of it in Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, or even the good old US of A.
