We know they’ve something of an edge with the late-harvested expressions of the grape, but how about with dry whites picked at normal ripeness? You can find out just how good dry Riverina semillon can be through an innovative idea called Semillon of the Riverina, in which six different regional makers have bottled their own wines in a branded bottle shape and capsule. The wineries involved are Casella Wines (Carramar), Cranswick Estate, Lillypilly Estate, Riverina Wines (Ballingal Estate), Rosetto Wines and Toorak Wines (Willandra Estate). Since the region crops over 30,000 tonnes of this grape, I wish the makers every success with this great idea.
