The National Wine Centre in Adelaide is off and running. While I am yet to visit this expensive edifice and sample its wares, the visitors I have encountered present a mixed bag of opinions. Perhaps the most insightful comment I have encountered about our new Shrine to Wine belongs to Mount Mary’s Dr John Middleton, who observes in his annual encyclical that: ‘There is some whimsy in the fact that incorporated in the new building there is portion of a stone wall which once was part of a lunatic asylum.’
