Despite your own anecdotal research on the matter, a recent study has questioned the accepted so-called fact that moderate consumption of alcohol will increase the mental abilities of middle-aged people. While the good news is that a moderate alcohol intake will not reduce cognitative functioning, the heavy use of alcohol will affect prospective memory and everyday memory. This means that it’s highly likely that you might forget to pass on a message to somebody, but might instead tell it to someone you already have told.
