Rick Kinzbrunner has allocated 1200 bottles of Giaconda 2001 Chardonnay for sale via the Australian Wine Exchange. The latest offer from AWX is valued around $360,000 and includes Giaconda Chardonnay 2001 (Antic. ASX Code: AWXGIA), Katnook Estate Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 (Antic. ASX Code: AWXKEO), Howard Park Cabernet Sauvignon 2000 (Antic. ASX Code: AWXHCS) and Mountadam ‘The Red’ Cabernet Merlot 1999 (Antic. ASX Code: AWXMRC). These wines will commence trading around 1 April 2003 until a pre-set de-listing date around a year later. The AWX has always claimed that one of the advantages it offers the consumer is that its wines will sell for around 20% less than ex cellar prices. The anticipated price for the Giaconda Chardonnay is $130-$140 per bottle, significantly higher than the price direct from Giaconda itself, provided of course that you can secure an allocation.
