Xanadu Wines has acquired the trendy Barossa-based Next Generation Wines Pty Ltd with the issue to its shareholders of 2.1 million Xanadu shares at 37 cents a share. The rationale was that Next Generation’s overseas sales network will open doors for Xanadu’s rapidly increasing production levels. In 2003, 70,000 cases of Next Generation’s Vin Five brand will be distributed in the UK, which Xanadu estimates will increase to 350,000 cases within five years. Exports already represented 60 per cent of total sales in 2002.
