The South Australian company Tarac has been awarded a A$1.5 million Commonwelath Food Innovation Grant to turn wine industry by-products into a health-giving food additive. A major distiller of wine spirit, Tarac will use the money to research and launch VinlifeTM, a product made entirely from the skins and seeds of wine grapes, and which contains powerful anti-oxidants. According to Tarac, VinlifeTM has already generated overseas interest since it can be used in a wide range of foods. The company hopes to form partnerships with major food companies around the world.
