Excellent new Semillon from Evans & Tate

They reckon it’s their best ever and I’m inclined to agree. The 1996 edition of Evans & Tate’s Margaret River Semillon is a complex, restrained wine which you need to leave opened for a while prior to attacking with relish. Based on appley, nectarine-like fruit and creamy, toasty oak, the wine has a delightfully structured palate with the layers of flavour and intrigue you normally associate with premium reds. A true winemaker’s wine, it would appreciate cellaring until 2001-04. It retails around $21 and I rate it 18.4. A definitive example of the modern WA classic dry white.
