Detour to Coonawarra this Winter

If you’re interested in visiting Coonawarra at some time this year, I’d scribble in a date this July or August. The ‘Coonawarra Cellar Dwellers’ programme, which can be found in full at www.coonawarra.org, includes a rare opportunity to taste and buy back vintages from no less than thirteen different wineries in the region. Participants include Zema Estate, which will put its 1993 Shiraz, 1995 Cluny and 1993 Family Selection on tasting, while you can take a glance at the ageing potential of sauvignon blanc at Rymill, where the 1993 and 2003 Sauvignon Blancs will be matched against each other. Redman and Hollick will present reds back to 1997 and 1996 respectively, while Wynns will showcase its shiraz traditions with tastings from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
