Members of this site are more than likely to be aware of my concerns regarding the lack of quality information and scholarship used to make major business decisions concerning Australian wine and investments in Australian wine. Although the document has been distributed for a week or more, I have just now had the opportunity to examine in detail the KPMG Wine Industry Report entitled ‘Surrendering the advantage?’ Without doubt, this is a high quality report that combines excellent local and international research with a healthy dose of wine industry street-sense and experience. In my view, it sets a new benchmark for independent analyses of its kind. The other high-class source of information I use regularly is Wine Industry News, a product of McGrath-Kerr Business Consultants (contact [email protected]). KPMG and its newly formed Wine Industry Group deserve every recognition and encouragement for this document, which they make available without charge. If you are interested in the mechanics of Australian wine, request a copy. Simply e-mail author Alexandra McPhee on [email protected] for a pdf version of the publication.
