Somebody was always going to try it again, and that somebody is Richmond Grove. This Orlando Wyndham subsidiary has released exclusively to Vintage Cellars stores separate bottlings of its terrific 1998 Rieslings from Watervale and the Barossa, both of which are closed with a screw-cap Stelvin seal. You now have the perfect opportunity to enjoy the vibrant, zesty tastes of these fine John Vickery-made rieslings in their spring of youth without any threat of cork taint. Furthermore, after more than a decade’s cellaring, both wines should still reveal a well-preserved combination of true bottle-aged development and youthful freshness. I’ve seen it before and I’ll say it again: wine sealed with screw caps can cellar superbly and possibly for longer than if under cork. Mixed dozens of each Richmond Grove riesling are available for $155 from VC.
