In a worthy indigenous attempt to counter the Year 2000 problem presently facing the Champagne region, 38 Barossa wineries have combined to create a single regional sparkling shiraz blend to be initially offered for auction at the Barossa Wine Show of 2000. The wine, which includes Penfolds Grange, Henschke Hill of Grace, Rockford Black Shiraz, Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz and Grant Burge Meshack, has been assembled and is presently undergoing bottle fermentation in magnums. A single Imperial of still base wine will be offered for auction at next year’s Barossa Wine Show.
