The Australian wine industry recognises that the strengthening of the Australian dollar against its US equivalent has the potential to reduce the spectacular growth of sales of Australian wine in the US. The Australian Wine Export Council (AWEC) will shortly open a third office in North America to maintain the momentum that might see the value of Australian wine exports tip A$3 billion by the end of the year. The figure to the end of June 2003 was A$2.4 billion.
