The red winemakers of BRL Hardy continued their virtual monopoly of the title ‘Red Winemaker of the Year’ at London’s International Wine Challenge. This year’s winner is Stephen Pannell, who follows Peter Dawson’s dual successes in 1996 and 1997 as BRL Hardy’s then Group Red Winemaker. Meantime, Domaine Chandon’s Vintage Brut 1995 was named Sparkling Wine of the Year, another feather in the cap of head winemaker Wayne Donaldson. You can still buy this excellent wine from the cellar door.
