Allied and Lion at it Again

Battlelines are again being drawn between Allied Domecq and Lion Nathan – this time over the comparatively small target of Banksia Wines Ltd, which includes St Hallett, Tatachilla and Hillstowe. While Lion Nathan claims 50.9% of Banksia, having upped its offer to A$1.12 per share, Allied Domecq says it has no intent of parting with its 14.9% stake in the company. Given the time it took these protagonists to settle the ownership of Montana Wines in New Zealand, it might be wise to settle in for a long fight over this issue.
