Part of the plans recently announced by TWE’s CEO Michael Clarke to generate annual savings of $50 million includes the sale of the Baileys, T’Gallant and Ryecroft wineries. The company is willing to consider the sale of the brands that accompany the wineries, which in the case of Baileys of Glenrowan would be almost impossible to separate. Baileys is a relatively small and isolated brand – the reasons why it’s a difficult fit in the TWE structure – that has been reinvigorated through the exceptional work of Paul Dahlenburg. It offers a strong and consistent brand, a sustainable high-level vineyard resource and a wonderful quality track record over the last decade and more. With vineyards dating back to 1904 and an atmospheric and historic cellar door and gardens, it deserves to find a worthy home. TWE has also put its Asti winery in Sonoma County, California, on the market.
