Gosper takes key Wine Australia role

James Gosper, currently Wine Australia’s Regional Director of North America, has been appointed as its new General Manager, Market Development, the role previously occupied by Paul Henry. Gosper will commence in his new role on June 1, and prior to taking up his new office in Sydney, will remain in the US to assist with the recruitment and handover for his existing role. Gosper has been given wide industry credit for revitalising the perception of Australian wine in the US, and is a popular selection for Australia’s key wine export posting. Bringing a background in retail, winemaking, marketing, sales and brand management, Gosper has previously held significant roles for Domaine Chandon/Green Point, Cloudy Bay, Piper’s Brook and Lindemans. Immediately prior to taking the American posting for Wine Australia, he was Brand Director in New York with Moet Hennessy USA, and prior to that spent twelve years at Green Point – Domaine Chandon Australia in the Yarra Valley, the final four years as Chief Winemaker/Winery Manager.
