Penfolds’ latest red wine release largely focuses on the exceptionally cool 2002 vintage, the principal reason why so many of the wines are more finely structured and present more overtly confectionary flavours than usual. There are some disappointments, and of the collection, only Bin 389 really holds its own. Even then, it is (not unsurprisingly) quite a different expression of this label.
