Derek Fitzgerald has joined high-profile new Barossa Valley winemaker Thorn-Clark as the company’s first full-time winemaker. Thorn-Clark, whose ultra-ripe expressions of red wine have won fulsome praise from the likes of Robert Parker, will retain the services of consultant winemaker Jim Irvine, who has been responsible for the company’s winemaking for the past five years. Fitzgerald’s previous experience has been with Bremerton in Langhorne Creek and Ferngrove at Frankland River.
