This is Wendouree as it’s never been done before and is unlikely ever to be done again. Planted in 1893, Wendouree is an iconic small vineyard whose wines are as eagerly purchased by the winemaking community as they are by the public at large. Wendouree Shiraz is one of just seven wines rated as Exceptional at the very top level of Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine. With the inclusion of its other reds, Cabernet Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz Malbec and Shiraz Mataro, Wendouree is the only winery with five of Australia’s top 31 wines in the Langton’s Classification. Craig Caulfield has accumulated over 80 Wendouree wines encompassing the various labels of Cabernet, Cabernet Malbec, Shiraz, Shiraz Malbec and Shiraz Mataro. OnWine Insider subscribers can now secure a place at one of the first ever comprehensive vertical tastings of these exclusive wines. Given the number and the robust nature of these wines, a series of five vertical tastings, one for each Wendouree red wine, will take place over a week. There is an absolute maximum of 15 people per tasting, with no exceptions. The events will be held in Jeremy Oliver’s own tasting room at 565 Burwood Road, Hawthorn, Victoria.
