[question] Question submitted by: Brian Handreck, Australia Jeremy, there has been some discussion on wine forums concerning your most recent tasting note for the Majella 2004 Cabernet and I notice the previous tasting note in July last year is much more positive. Can you offer any explanation for the differing outcomes of these two bottles? [/question] [answer] Thanks Brian for picking that up! The change in tasting note occured because I tasted the wine again on around eight occasions while conducting promotional seminars for Australian wine in Asia last October. The bottles I tasted in Asia were all consistent and led me to believe that in the six months since the previous time I actually tasted the wine, it had started to look a little cooked and jammy as its fruit diminished in brightness and freshness. I am confident in the quality of the transport to Asia and in the storage facilties there, and so do not believe these issues could have contributed to the wine’s quality and nature. Hope that helps. I still believe it to be a very good wine, since a score equivalent to a high bronze has to be earned! [/answer]
