Allied Domecq has steadily increased its stake in Peter Lehmann Wines to 14.5%, causing many to speculate that something more substantial is in the air. This has been denied by Allied, but the company has voiced its intentions to assume distributorship of the popular Australian brands in the UK and US. The winemaker has said it will attempt to resist any take-over attempt.
