Mount Langi Ghiran folded into Yering Station

Owners of Yering Station, the Rathbone family, have bought 100% of the Ararat-based wine producer, Mount Langi Ghiran, for an undisclosed amount. Prior to the purchase the business was 75% owned by interests controlled by German businessman Riquet Hess, with 25% owned by Trevor Mast, who has been intellectually responsible for its rise to prominence. Mast remains at Mount Langi Ghiran, and says that things will continue much as they have been, with existing labels and contract winemaking. The purchase includes 70ha of producing vineyards, a winery that crushes 1300 tonnes (including contract work), plus the brands of Mount Langi Ghiran, Cliff Edge and Billi Billi Creek. Not included in the sale is the popular Four Sisters brand, which remains under its previous ownership that includes Alister Purbrick and Trevor Mast. Mount Langi Ghiran will continue to participate in its multi-national winemaking venture with parties in France and the US.
