The Cork Supply Group claims its ‘world-first integration program’ between growers, manufacturers and suppliers is already resulting in reduced cork taint in Australia. The Australian arm, Cork Supply Australia, claims a 72% drop in TCA levels in the cork sourced through its partnership with Equipar cork growers, a company of cork foresters who represent 12% of Portugal’s total cork supply. Cork Supply Australia’s Managing Director, Mr Neil Walsh says that for the first time cork growers are receiving feedback regarding the quality and quantity of corks produced from the cork they grow. Improvements, he says, are coming not only through discontinuing purchases from poor quality suppliers, but by improvements through better quality control procedures.
