A poster campaign across France to address the country’s annual road death toll of more than 8,000 (32% of which are linked to drink driving) has fallen foul of the French wine industry. The posters feature the view through a car windscreen, but much of it has been obscured by a large and anonymous wine label. The accompanying caption reads ‘above .5g/l, alcohol reduces your line of vision’. The wine industry feels it has been discriminated against and has received assurances that the poster campaign will never be used again and a wine industry trade association will have input into the next five film campaigns. The chairperson of the body responsible for the campaign has been dismissed. Meanwhile, the blood alcohol limit in Italy has been reduced from .08 to .05.
