While domestic Australian wine sales increased by 11% from December to January, this can largely be attributed to restocking of retail outlets following a hesitant and uncertain pre-Christmas season. It is extremely unlikely that domestic sales of Australian wine for the year ending June 30, 2002 will approach the 384.85m litres sold the previous year, which was up by 4.2% on the year previous to it. January’s export sales of $99.36m were up on last year’s figure of $96.92m.
