Kiwi exports soar

With a 26% increase in value to $69.4 million and a 15% increase in volumes to 10.9 million litres for the nine months to the end of March, New Zealand’s wine exports are set to meet the annual projections of $96 million by the end of the financial year. With imports worth NZ $11.8 million, Australia is the Kiwis’ largest export customer, representing 17% of its exports by value, more than twice that of the USA. For the year ending April 1998, Australia sold $49.8 million of wine to New Zealand.
